ITINERARY
-
Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Once you land at the airport, a member of our team will be waiting to greet you to drive you to Thamel. As soon as you arrive at the hotel after we will walk around Thamel's bustling streets. Our guide will provide you with a briefing on the trek and other essential information.
-
As you board the domestic flight to Lukla, the views are truly breathtaking. The flight time is approximately 35 minutes. As you land at the Lukla airport, you can get some resting time and a morning breakfast. After you are completely charged up, we will slowly start to walk by the markets and stores in Lukla and head downhill for a while with short ups and gradually winding trails passing through villages. The overnight halt is in Phakding adjacent to the Dudh Koshi River, where you'll find Buddhist prayer structures.
-
The third day starts with a quick, brief morning trek that largely follows the Dudh Koshi River. The Suspension Bridge will take you across the Dudh Koshi River to Monjo Village. Right up to Namche, this is the only village for the next two to three hours. After finally reaching Namche Bazar, the sherpa capital of the Khumbu region, you will relax and recharge in the nearby bars or cafes.
-
A day of rest is necessary for every trekker at altitude and acute mountain sickness (AMS) can be a significant issue if acclimatisation isn't planned for in the trekking itinerary. Such adventures require extra caution, like drinking plenty of water and avoiding drinking alcohol entirely as it will dehydrate you. There is the opportunity to visit Hotel Everest View (the highest altitude 5* hotel in the world) on this rest day.
-
When you wake up in Namche Bazar, you quickly ascend beyond Namche and trek for half a day beside a stunning vista of the Himalayas. When you descend to Phungi-tenga for lunch, you are met by a vast landscape of alpine woodland and the ImjaTse river. We will travel for a few hours uphill through woodland with the stunning views of the various peaks.
-
After a memorable stay in Tengboche, begin your morning with a peaceful walk through tranquil woodlands and past prayer walls. Cross the ImjaTse River via a footbridge, then ascend gradually with a few steep sections towards Lobisa and Shanasa settlements. An additional hour of uphill trekking leads to Khumjung village, one of the largest villages in the Khumbu region, nestled in a beautiful glacier valley. Here, the Sir Edmund Hillary Trust operates a renowned High School. Khunde and Khumjung lie beneath Khumbi-La, a peak standing at 5,830 meters. We stay the night at a lodge in Khumjung village.
-
This is where we trek back to Namche Bazaar and onward to Monjo. Optionally, we can visit Khunde village and Syangboche with views of a small airstrip. A short 30 minute walk from Khumjung takes you to Khunde, where the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation operates a hospital. Continue to Syangboche and descend to Namche Bazaar for a break and lunch. Afterwards, trek to Monjo village in the late afternoon, crossing the Dudh Koshi River multiple times. Finally, pass through the Monjo Entrance/Exit and settle in at the lodge.
-
Today marks your final trekking day. Following breakfast, trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River, retracing your steps through Phakding, Benkar, Ghat, Chheplung, and finally arriving in Lukla around noon after approximately six hours of trekking. Enjoy ample time to explore the vibrant Lukla market. We then stay the night in a Lodge in Lukla.
-
After a hearty breakfast, you will fly from Lukla's Tenzing / Hillary airport this morning. Boarding a Dronier or Twin Otter aircraft, you will enjoy a scenic 35-minute flight to Kathmandu. Upon landing at Kathmandu's domestic airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation for relaxation and optional souvenir shopping. You then stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
-
As your journey in Nepal concludes, we fondly recall the unforgettable moments spent amidst the Himalayas with Team Himalaya's exceptional support.
